Make a patch for your Super Cape
When the storm was over, Jayn drew a tiny picture of what had scared her and turned it into a patch for her cape. Here’s how your Super Hero can make one too.
- A small scrap of fleece — saved from making the cape
- Fabric markers or fabric paint
- Fabric scissors (a grown-up does the cutting)
- Washable fabric glue
- Optional: an embroidery hoop, needle, and thread, if your Super Hero wants to stitch instead of draw
Talk about what happened
Ask your Super Hero what they faced and how it felt. This is the moment the patch will remember.
Draw it
Let them draw a small picture of that thing on the fleece scrap — a storm cloud, a dark hallway, whatever it was for them.
Cut it out
A grown-up cuts around the drawing to make a clean patch shape.
Glue it to the cape
Attach the patch anywhere on the cape — the back, the edge, wherever feels right to your Super Hero. Glue is enough, but sewing it on is a good option too and will probably hold up better through the wash.
Say why it’s there
Remind your Super Hero: the patch isn’t a reward for pretending something was easy. It’s proof they faced something hard and got through it.
Helpful reminders
- The patch doesn’t have to be neat — a wobbly storm cloud is still a great patch.
- Every hard thing your Super Hero faces can earn a new one.
- Let them decide where each patch goes — it’s their story on their cape.
